The Nursing Institute of West Central Ohio becomes the first to use the RP-7 Robot for nursing educational purposes

This summer, the Nursing Institute of West Central Ohio, headquartered at Wright State University, became the first to use the RP-7 robot in nursing education. The Nursing Institute faculty is using the RP-7 to explore the world of different health care modalities.

"As baby boomer nurses in education approach retirement, this technology will provide them with a new career option. This cutting edge technology makes it possible for nursing faculty with chronic disorders or disabilities to continue to contribute to nursing education...The RP-7 is an innovative way to address the faculty nursing shortage," said Debi Sampsel, executive director of the institute.

In the July 2007 issue of the newsletter for Wright State University Faculty and Staff, Patricia Martin, dean of the WSU-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health commented about the RP-7, "I am very excited about the unlimited potential and futuristic possibilities of the RP-7. It provides us with a glimpse of how technically savvy faculty can continue to be engaged in nursing education."
