Mount Carmel East Hospital Becomes First Ohio
Hospital to Launch Remote Presence

Mount Carmel East Hospital is using the RP-7® Remote Presence System to enable more timely interventions between neurologists and patients presenting in the emergency room, and to increase intensivist-led coverage of their critical care units.

Doctors have offered initial feedback on patient response and the value of Remote Presence.

"Actually, they're not really talking to the robot" said Dr. Mark Hackman, Vice President for Medical Affairs at Mount Carmel East. "They're talking to the physician. The robot is just a tool. I'd say it's a pretty revolutionary change."

Neurologist Dr. Jean Cibula will be using Remote Presence technology to aid in quicker patient interventions. "A picture's worth a thousand words," Cibula said in an interview with WBNS-TV. "While I need to lay my hands on the patient sooner or later, at least this will give us a good head start."
