The Michigan Stroke Network (MSN) will receive the Advancement Health Care Award at the Crain's 4th Annual Health Care Hero's luncheon on September 6th.
In describing MSN, St. Joseph CEO Jack Weiner said, "Programs like this can mean the difference between walking out of the hospital on your own a few days later versus having to take a wheelchair to another facility for months of rehabilitative care."
Director of stroke technology programs at Crittenton Hospital, Stephanie Anderson, commented, "...It helps to have the specialist evaluate and make a decision on whether the patient should be transported to St. Joseph or if it's better just to leave them and treat them here."
Many anecdotal accounts reflecting the effectiveness of the program have been collected since the deployment of the RP-7 system one year ago. Jack Weiner hopes that statistical analysis of this evidence will show the same results.
