Yulun Wang, PhD, Chairman and CEO of InTouch Technologies awarded
Entrepreneurial Leadership Award from UC Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara, CA, June 4, 2007 – Yulun Wang, PhD, Chairman and CEO of InTouch Technologies, Inc (d.b.a. InTouch Health®), the leader in Remote Presence technology for healthcare providers, today will accept the UC Santa Barbara College of Engineering 2007 Venky Narayanamurti Entrepreneurial Leadership Award. The award will be presented at the Technology Management Programs End of Year Celebration tonight at the Corwin Pavilion on the UC Santa Barbara campus.
The Venky Narayanamurti Entrepreneurial Leadership Award is given annually to an individual who has demonstrated leadership in California's Central Coast high-technology community and is traditionally associated with the UC Santa Barbara Technology Management Program. The recipient is chosen by previous award winners and the broad Central Coast business community.
"Yulun’s companies have contributed significantly to advancing worldwide healthcare while simultaneously he has been active in engaging with and encouraging potential entrepreneurs. He has been an inspiration on the UC Santa Barbara campus as well as along the entire central coast. There was strong consensus in the selection of Yulun Wang for the 'Venky Award'," said Professor Gary Hansen, Associate Dean for the Technology Management Program.
Yulun Wang, PhD remarked, "As a UCSB alumni, it is very rewarding to be recognized with such a distinguished award. The mentors and colleagues in my education and overall experience at UCSB have played a significant role in creating the foundation for the development of my entrepreneurial skills. I’m also thankful for the many bright and creative UCSB graduates and students who I have been privileged to work with in our community."
About Yulun Wang, PhD
Yulun Wang, PhD, is the chairman and CEO of InTouch Technologies. In 1989, Dr. Wang founded Computer Motion, the company which pioneered surgical robotics. In 2002, Dr. Wang founded InTouch Technologies (dba InTouch Health). He has more than 40 publications and 50 patents in the areas of robotics and computers. Dr. Wang has a PhD in Electrical Engineering specializing in Robotics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
