Santa Barbara, CA, October 23, 2002 - InTouch Health, Inc. announced today that it has received the prestigious Investors' Choice award at the recent LIFESCIENCE Portfolio, an industry-wide healthcare private equity conference. Technologic Partners, the publisher of VentureWire, announced the winners of the Investors' Choice award at the conclusion of its two-day conference held this week in San Francisco. The Investors' Choice award goes to the ten privately held companies presenting at the conference judged most likely to succeed.

Winners were selected from the more than 85 privately held companies that presented their pre-screened business plans at the conference. The awards were based on voting by the audience of more than 300 entrepreneurs, investors, and industry executives, as well as a panel of experts, including Brian Chee, General Partner, Polaris Venture Partners; Risa Stack, Principal, JP Morgan Partners; and Ken Nover, Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Analyst, A.G. Edwards & Sons. Technologic Partners founder and VentureWire editor-in-chief Richard A. Shaffer presented the awards.

Dr. Yulun Wang, chairman and CEO, who presented InTouch Health's business plan at the LIFESCIENCE Portfolio conference said, "We are honored to be voted by our industry peers and venture capitalists as one of the top healthcare start-ups most likely to succeed. This endorsement reflects on the experience of our senior management team and reinforces the value proposition that we will deliver through our integrated technology solution to the long-term healthcare market."

Perhaps the most critical issue facing healthcare providers today is the shortage of qualified nursing staff. According to the American Hospital Association there are currently more than 125,000 open nurse positions in acute care alone. The shortage is even more severe for long-term care providers. Over the next eight years the severity of the issue will more than double. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than one million new nurses will be needed by the year 2010.

InTouch Health is addressing this challenge by pioneering the use of Remote Presence in healthcare. Through InTouch Health's proprietary communications and mobile robotic platform, a caregiver can be projected to another location where a patient or caregiver is located to provide care, coaching, training or monitoring of healthcare services. The InTouch Health solution leverages the time and expertise of healthcare professionals across many care facilities to improve care delivery at lower costs.

InTouch Health in partnership with the Rehabilitation Institute at Santa Barbara will begin product testing later this year. Installation into and testing by several national healthcare providers is scheduled to commence in January 2003.

Based in Santa Barbara, CA, InTouch Health is a privately held development stage company.
