Physician-Robot Makes the Rounds

Thacker 293 (2): 150 - January 12, 2005

The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has published an article on telerounding, where physicians use robots and telepresence for patient rounding. The physician can interact with patients and simultaneously view vital signs and other electronic records via the hospital network. InTouch Health, Inc. is pioneering the development of this technology.

Initial studies demonstrate patients are highly satisfied with their robotic doctor interaction. There are several ongoing investigations studying the impact of this technology.
