Executive Leadership

Yulun Wang, PhD, Chairman & CEO, founded InTouch Technologies (d.b.a. InTouch Health) in 2002. In 2008, InTouch Health received Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 Award of the fastest growing technology companies in North America, ranking number 39. Also in 2008, InTouch Health received Inc Magazine's Inc 500 award, ranking 289 of the 500 fastest growing companies in America, and was also ranked number 18 in the Top 100 Health Companies on the list. In 1989, Dr. Wang founded Computer Motion, the company which pioneered surgical robotics. He was the principal architect and inventor of the voice-controlled robotic arm called AESOP, the first FDA-cleared surgical robot, as well as the ZEUS robotic surgical system, which performed the world's first transatlantic surgery. Computer Motion went public in 1997 and merged with Intuitive Surgical in 2003 for one third of the resulting company. In September 2000, the National Academy of Engineers selected Dr. Wang as one of the nation's top young engineers to participate in the Frontiers of Engineering program. Dr. Wang was further honored in June 2005 when Ernst & Young named him Finalist for their Entrepreneur of the Year award and again in 2007 when UCSB awarded him with the Venky Narayanamurti Entrepreneurial Leadership Award. He has more than 40 publications and over 70 patents in the areas of robotics and computers. Dr. Wang is a member of the University of California Santa Barbara's Electrical & Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board, the Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian Board of Directors, and the American Telemedicine (ATA) Board of Directors. He is frequently invited to speak at noteworthy meetings and events, has appeared on the Today Show, CNN, and various other televised interviews. Dr. Wang has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering specializing in Robotics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

David J. Adornetto, CFO and Executive Vice President, Operations, has more than 20 years of healthcare industry and senior management experience. Mr. Adornetto was most recently Executive Vice President of Operations at Mentor Corporation where he oversaw manufacturing, new product development, and business development. Over his 14-year tenure at Mentor he served in various senior management positions including Vice President of Strategic Planning and Operational Development, and Vice President of Finance. Prior to joining Mentor, Mr. Adornetto was employed by Deloitte & Touche as a senior auditor. He is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his master's degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Steve Jordan, Executive Vice President, Research & Development, has more than 20 years of R&D experience and has developed over 25 robotic systems, including those created at Computer Motion, where these were the world’s first commercial medical robotic systems. Mr. Jordan also led the project at Computer Motion that developed and brought to market the world’s first voice controlled operating room control system. He has over a dozen patents in the field of robotics, and has extensive experience designing products, managing development teams, driving product development and completing products on schedule and within budget. Mr. Jordan’s core expertise is in digital system design for robotic controls, but he also has extensive experience in software development and mechanism design. Mr. Jordan earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Michael Chan, Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, has more than 20 years of global business, marketing, product development and operations experience in the medical device and healthcare markets. Mr. Chan was most recently vice president of marketing at TheraCardia, pioneers of a new procedure to treat cardiac arrest. Mr. Chan was also an early-stage employee and held various senior management positions at Computer Motion, Inc. (IPO 1997 and now Intuitive Surgical), PhotoAccess Corp. (acquired by Agilent Technologies) and Andronic Devices Ltd. (acquired by MDS Health). Mr. Chan also held marketing and program management positions at Stryker's orthopedic surgery division. Mr. Chan earned a bachelor of applied science in bio-resource engineering from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

Gerry Popolow, RN, Vice President, Clinical Services & Account Management, has more than 25 years of healthcare experience in executive management and consulting positions. Ms. Popolow has served in leadership roles at Cedars-Sinai, University of California, San Francisco, Abington Memorial Hospital and Computer Motion. She has developed and consulted in the development of clinical service lines such as cardiac, neurosurgery and spine services. Her clinical and technology experience includes clinical and surgical robotics, critical care, surgical services and emergency services. Ms. Popolow earned a bachelor of nursing science degree from California State University and a master’s of nursing science degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She is a Wharton Nurse Executive Fellow and is an active member of national and state healthcare and clinical professional organizations.

Tim Wright, Vice President, Marketing, has more than 15 years of healthcare industry experience in marketing, strategy, business development, and operations management. Mr. Wright was most recently general manager of Sunbridge Healthcare's Seattle region where he was responsible for 8 skilled nursing facilities having annual revenues of $30 million and 1000 employees. Mr. Wright was also a regional general manager for ManorCare Health Services with responsibility for Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living operations in 3 western states. Prior to these assignments, he directed and managed marketing, corporate strategy and new business development at ManorCare and Marriott International. Mr. Wright earned an MBA from the Darden School, University of Virginia and a BA from the University of Washington.

Herb von Winckelmann, Vice President, Corporate Sales & Strategic Partnerships, has more than 25 years of executive sales experience in healthcare and technology, bringing new solutions to the hospital and alternate site care settings. While leading the new business development efforts for Oncology Supply he increased sales from $3 million to over $7 million per month within one year. As VP of sales and business development at Q-Matrix, he helped pioneer the field of outsourced service solutions. Mr. von Winckelmann was executive director of Apria Women’s Health Services, the business unit he built and managed to profitability within 9 months. This business unit pioneered remote monitoring of high-risk pregnancies, and was later sold to Matria Medical Corp. He has also held positions as VP of sales and marketing at BioTek Solutions (acquired by Ventana Medical), director of national accounts and corporate development at CareLink (acquired by Matria Medical) and VP of sales at Stadt Solutions (acquired by Amerisource Bergen). Mr. von Winckelmann earned a bachelor of arts in microbiology at Cal. State University at Northridge.

Charlie Huiner, Vice President, Business Development, has over 15 years of experience in business development, corporate finance and strategy, the last five of which focused in the medical technology field. Mr. Huiner was most recently Vice President of Corporate Development at Isolagen, Inc., having responsibility for business development, corporate finance and investor relations. Before Isolagen, Mr. Huiner had similar responsibilities as Senior Director, Corporate Development and Strategy at Inamed Corporation (acquired by Allergan, 2006). Mr. Huiner also held positions as a director at Bordeaux Capital, investment and management positions at Security Capital Group (acquired by GE Capital, 2002), Chief Financial Officer at PhatPipe, Inc and Director of Corporate Development for ProLogis Trust. Mr. Huiner began his career as an M&A financial analyst for NatWest USA. Mr. Huiner received his MBA in finance and marketing with a concentration in healthcare management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School and his BA from Williams College.

Greg Brallier, Vice President, Technical Service & Hosted Applications, has more than 15 years of experience in network design and administration, webmastering and programming. Mr. Brallier has extensive knowledge in network installation, configuration and administration of large-scale WiFi and Ethernet networks. As an experienced webmaster, he established and maintained Internet, Intranet and Extranet Websites. He developed and implemented database architectures and schemas for remote monitoring of computer-driven devices. An early-stage employee at Computer Motion, Inc., Mr. Brallier worked for 11 years as Director of Information Systems. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
